Steve Birchard is a Principal in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Analytics practice in Chicago. Mr. Birchard has over 25 years experience in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, and provider delivery system integration. He has assisted numerous client organizations in defining their strategic execution initiatives, redesigning their business operating model, evaluating customer segments and product lines, and transforming their technology systems.
Mr. Birchard leads Deloitte’s Health Care Strategy practice. He is responsible for building a client portfolio focused on strategy formulation, large-scale transformation, and emerging technology adoption.
Mr. Birchard also co-leads the firm’s Central Region Health Care practice. He is responsible for growing market share and building sustainable client relationships throughout the central region.
Steve also has served as the lead consulting Principal at several leading health care institutions, including Aetna, Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC), Advocate Aurora Health, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
Steve leads Deloitte’s national relationship with City Year, an organization dedicated to supporting the success of students in systemically under-resourced schools. Since 2007, Deloitte has played a critical role in supporting City Year’s services in high schools through pro bono services, mentoring and creating volunteer projects for City Year staff members. Every year, more than 500 hundred Deloitte professionals across the US mentor City Year Americorps members. During the 2019 – 2020 school year,18 Deloitte partners served on City Year local Boards.
Mr. Birchard also serves on the City Year Chicago Board. In addition, he is a leader in Deloitte’s Impact Day, which is an opportunity for Deloitte professionals to put their passion, determination, and skills to use for the benefit of the local community. They provide skills-based volunteering to hundreds of not for profit organizations.
Steve is a graduate of the University of Iowa, and lives in Chicago with his wife and three kids.
