David Zito has served as Mayor and Councilmember for the City of Solana Beach since December 2012, securing re-election by placing first among six candidates in 2016 and running unopposed in 2020. Prior to their political career, Zito spent two decades at HP, holding various distinguished titles, including Distinguished Technologist for Personal Software and Solutions, where Zito led software strategy and system architecture for diverse solutions, and Distinguished Technologist for HP Managed Solutions, focusing on custom software for major clients. Zito also contributed as a Master Software Architect, guiding a large software organization through an agile transformation. Early in Zito's career, Zito worked as a Software Developer at Computervision. Zito holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
