Ian Macek is a seasoned urban designer currently serving as Principal Urban Designer for the City of Seattle since May 2022. Prior to this role, Macek was a Senior Associate at Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates from June 2019 to April 2022 and held various positions within the City of Seattle from January 2014 to June 2019, including Senior Transportation Planner and Associate Transportation Planner. Macek's early career included serving as the State Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator for the Washington State Department of Transportation from August 2008 to December 2013. Ian Macek holds a Master's degree in Urban Design and Planning from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Applied Science in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from Michigan State University.
