James Branum has extensive work experience in law enforcement and sales. James served as a member of the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board starting in 2018. Prior to this, they had a long career with the City of Richmond, Indiana. James held various roles, including Chief of Police from 2016 to present, Deputy Chief of Police from 2015 to 2016, and Captain of the Richmond Police Department from 1986 to 2015. James also had experience in sales, working as a Sales Representative for Zee Medical in 1986 and in Vending Machine Sales for Fowler Automatic from 1980 to 1986.
James Branum's education history begins in 1972, when they attended Hagerstown Jr-Sr High School and obtained their diploma in 1978. In 1987, they attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and became a Certified Law Enforcement Officer. James obtained further education at the Police Executive Leadership Academy from 2010 to 2012, where they completed a program in Police Management. Additionally, in April 1987, Branum obtained a certification as a Police Officer from the State of Indiana.
