Kevin Denney has an extensive work experience in law enforcement. Kevin is currently serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Grand Island since January 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Of Police for the City of Jarrell from August 2020 to January 2023. Kevin also briefly served as the Interim City Manager / Chief of Police for the same city from July to August 2022.
Before their role in Jarrell, Denney worked as the Chief of Police for the Red Oak ISD Police Department from July 2016 to June 2020. Kevin began their law enforcement career with the Irving Police Department in October 1992, starting as an Officer and later being promoted to the position of Sergeant. During their time with Irving PD, Denney gained experience in supervising detectives, patrol, SWAT, and school resource officers. Kevin also coordinated security profiles for various events and provided dignitary protection.
Kevin Denney has a strong educational background in the field of criminal justice and criminology. Kevin is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at Tarleton State University, with an expected completion in 2024. Prior to this, from 2018 to 2019, they completed a Masters degree in Public Administration at the same university. In 2015 to 2016, they also obtained a Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University. Their undergraduate education was completed at Texas A&M University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from 1987 to 1991.
