Katie Burd, MSc, currently serves as the Waste and Diversion Operations Supervisor for the City of St. Albert since October 2019, after previously holding the position of Waste and Diversion Programs Associate. In these roles, Katie has led educational outreach initiatives, streamlined data management across various platforms, and managed significant projects like Multi-Residential waste collection and the Organics Contamination Reduction Campaign. Prior to this, Katie worked as an Ecologist at Paragon Soil and Environmental Consulting Inc., contributing to environmental proposals and conducting field studies to promote soil health and sustainability. Additionally, Katie served as a Lecturer in Environmental Science at Yellowhead Tribal College, developing course content for Indigenous Environmental Stewardship and Reclamation. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Water and Land Resources from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Earth System Sciences from Queen's University.
