Dennis Deng has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dennis began their career in 2000 as a QC Analyst for a web frontend and SQL/Oracle backend application. As a major feature quality owner, they were responsible for test setup, rich edit, and performance testing. Dennis also played a key role in evaluating test automation tools, designing test frameworks, and automating test cases. In 2001, the company was acquired by Microsoft.
Following this, Deng joined Microsoft and held various roles within the company. From 2001 to 2008, they worked as a Software Design Engineer in Test II for Windows Client Platform, where they were responsible for designing and implementing a C++ based data-driven GDI Text test automation suite. Dennis also maintained and optimized the existing GDI+ regression test toolset.
In 2008, Deng joined the Developer Division WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) product team as a Software Design Engineer in Test II. Here, they took ownership of all new WPF 4.0 Text features and redesigned the existing regression test suite to be compatible with the new test framework.
From 2010 to 2011, Deng worked as a Software Design Engineer in Test II for DevDiv Silverlight, where they took ownership of Typography and Line Spacing features. Dennis developed algorithms that worked on both Windows and Mac OS for verification and validation, eliminating the need for unstable pixel-based image comparison in test automation.
From 2011 to 2013, Deng served as a Senior Software Design Engineer in Test for Windows Developer Experience, where they designed and implemented software applications to test new features and performance of XAML Text, Graphics, and Print. Dennis also mentored junior employees and interns.
From 2013 to 2014, Deng worked as a Senior Software Design Engineer in Test for Windows Silicon Graphics and Media. In this role, they instrumented DWrite product code to collect Windows font usage telemetry. Dennis also led a team of five in completing an asset management software development project.
Most recently, Deng worked as a Systems Analyst for the City of Bellevue since 2014. In this role, they provided technical support to internal staff and city residents, configured COTS systems, and solved customer reported issues. Dennis also built SQL/ORACLE queries, triggers, views, procedures, and functions.
Dennis Deng completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Milligan University in 1996. Soon after, from 1997 to 1999, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at East Tennessee State University.
