Alex Thomas is a seasoned professional in data science and bioinformatics with a comprehensive background in both industry and research. As the Director of Data Science at C.H. Robinson since May 2018, Alex has held various roles including Principal Data Scientist and Data Scientist. Previously, Alex served as Bioinformatics Lead and Bioinformatics Scientist at Human Longevity, Inc., where significant advancements in genomics and next-generation sequencing were achieved. Academic experience includes a Graduate Student Researcher position at UC San Diego, contributing to metabolic research and systems biology. Earlier roles include R&D internships at American Medical Systems and ev3, as well as undergraduate research at the University of Minnesota, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from UC San Diego and a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota.
