Tomas Matta has extensive work experience in finance and management roles. Tomas began their career as a Structural Engineer at OMH Ingenieros Consultores in 2000. In 2001, they joined Principal Financial Group as a Financial Planning Analyst and later served as an Operations Manager and Investment Controller. From 2008 to 2014, Tomas worked at RTA Alesa - Rio Tinto, where they held positions as Treasury - Corporate Finance and Finance Manager. Tomas then joined Stratasys as a Finance - Treasury Manager from 2014 to 2021. Currently, Tomas is employed at Chorus One, where they held the roles of Finance Manager from April 2021 to September 2022 and is currently serving as the CFO.

Tomas Matta obtained their MBA from the University of St.Gallen in 2007. Prior to that, they pursued their undergraduate degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile from 1994 to 2000, majoring in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Tomas Matta has also acquired several certifications. In 2014, they obtained a Certificate in Risk Management (CertRM) from the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Before that, in 2012, they earned a Certificate in International Treasury Management (CertITM) from the same institution. More recently, in February 2021, they completed CS50's Introduction to Computer Science, offered by HarvardX - An Online Learning Initiative by Harvard University through edX.
