James Fong

Adjunct Partner at Chinaccelerator

James has over 30 years of experiences spanning diverse industries such as defense, software, e-commerce, and sports and entertainment and across numerous functions including product management, strategy, venture investment, content development and production, and executive leadership. In addition, James has over 15 years of cross-border operating experiences in China and, since mid-2019, he has been investing and advising early-stage start-ups and media and entertainment companies around the world with an emphases on artificial intelligence, computer vision, NLP, immersive technologies, and distributed ledger; he currently serves as an advisor to Cameron Pace Group China (media & entertainment; Beijing), StoryFile (AI, NLP, computer vision; Los Angeles) , Creative Robot Labs (immersive technologies; Shanghai), Darabase (immersive technologies, London), and Tellus (fintech; Palo Alto).

Most recently, James was the CEO of Jaunt China, a start-up jointly invested by Jaunt Inc., Shanghai Media Group, and China Media Capital, where he produced numerous critically acclaimed and awarding winning immersive content and experiences. Prior to joining Jaunt China, James served as the CEO of Oriental DreamWorks, where he led the production and release of Kung Fu Panda 3 in China, and as the Managing Director of Strategy and League Development for NBA China, where he developed and launched three NBA-quality arenas for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, 2010 World’s Fair in Shanghai, and the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, respectively. Earlier in his profession, he was a Director at Amazon, where he launched Amazon Marketplace, Amazon Advertising, and Amazon Global Selling in China, bringing tens of thousands of Chinese sellers and manufacturers to Amazon’s global marketplace, and a General Manager at Microsoft, where he oversaw a $165 million venture fund and expanded Microsoft’s sales and marketing efforts to over 32 cities in China. Prior to starting his career as a product manager for Microsoft in Redmond, WA, James served his nation as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.

James holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University and a Master of in Business Administration in Information Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
