Youth Care Specialist at The Children's Village

Alaina Givhan has a diverse work experience. Alaina started their career as a Technical Administrative Assistant at the National Consumer Law Center from 2009 to 2011. Alaina then worked as a Mathematics Teacher at Foxborough Regional Charter School from 2012 to 2015, where they focused on helping struggling students improve their math skills. Alaina also worked as a Mathematics Teacher at the NYC Department of Education from 2015 to 2016, where they utilized technology and real-world situations to engage students and promote understanding of geometry.

Additionally, Alaina served as an Event Staff at RSIG Security Services from 2009 to 2019, providing security for various events and overseeing the security of IKEA's parking garage. Alaina also worked as the Director of Special Events at Château le Woof from 2015 onwards. Furthermore, Alaina was an Education Coordinator at The Children's Village from 2022 to the present, where they focused on advancing the education of incarcerated youth in New York by implementing effective programs and improving academic outcomes.

Most recently, Alaina has taken on the role of a Youth Care Specialist at The Children's Village, where they work with emotionally, psychiatrically, and/or behaviorally challenged youth, specifically those in the CSEC population. Alaina collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to bring about positive changes in the residents.

Alaina Givhan's education history begins in 2002 when they attended Union College. Alaina obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Union College in 2003. After that, they pursued further education at Nassau Community College from 2003 to 2005, where they earned an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology. In 2007, they returned to Nassau Community College and completed an Associate of Science degree in Applied Mathematics in 2008. Subsequently, in 2008 and 2009, Alaina attended UMass Boston, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Psychology. Alaina'seducational journey continued, and they went on to pursue a Master of Education degree in Applied Mathematics at Bridgewater State University from 2013 to 2015.
