Alfonso Carmona, Ed.D, serves as the Chief Portfolio Officer for Chicago Public Schools since 2019, having previously held the position of Chief of Schools for Network 10. With a strong background in educational leadership, Alfonso served as Superintendent at St. Augustine Preparatory Academy from June 2016 to June 2019 and Principal at Healy Elementary School from July 2010 to June 2016. Responsibilities included overseeing daily instructional leadership, managing a $12 million budget, conducting extensive classroom observations, and collaborating with external partners to enhance student services. Alfonso holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University and additional degrees in educational leadership and business administration. Notable accomplishments include improving school performance consistently over four years.
