John Balzano, PMP has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of military construction and facility management. John started their career in 1993 with the United States Air Force, where they held various roles including Commander of Readiness Flight, Commander of Resources Flight, and Chief of Operations. In 1997, they became a Facility Program Manager and later served as Chief of Operations, Command Strategic Planner, and Executive Officer.
From 2004 to 2005, John worked as the Chief of Readiness Operations Branch at HQ Air Mobility Command. In 2005, they became a Squadron Commander in the US Air Force. From 2007 to 2009, they served as the Chief of Installations and Logistics Programs.
John's career also includes roles at the US Air Force, such as Chief of the Basing Branch and Chief of the Installations and Logistics Programs. John led teams responsible for providing policy and guidance on environmental analysis, community planning, and facility operations to multiple US Air Force installations worldwide.
In 2010, they joined US Forces Iraq as the Chief of the Bases, Facilities, and Environmental Division. John supervised a team providing facility operations, maintenance, and environmental support to US bases in Iraq. John also oversaw a task force responsible for inspecting and repairing electrical and fire safety hazards.
John returned to the US Air Force in 2011 as the Operations Division Chief, leading a team of engineers and providing policy, guidance, and technical support to multiple bases. John was responsible for the command facility energy program, infrastructure assessments, and a large budget for sustainment and facility operations.
In 2015, they joined the Air Force Civil Engineer Center as the Deputy Director of Facility Engineering. In this role, they led a team of project managers and oversaw the planning, design, and execution of a $21 billion project portfolio, including weapon system and new mission beddowns.
Most recently, John joined Cherokee Federal in 2020 as a Senior Military Construction Program Policy Analyst.
John Balzano, PMP has a Master's degree in Administration from Bowie State University, which they obtained from 1995 to 1997. Earlier, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College, completing their studies from 1984 to 1988. In addition to their formal education, John Balzano has also obtained the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in March 2018.
