Marcelo is currently employed at Checkmarx as the Application Security Helpdesk Team Lead since January 2022. Before that, they worked as a Senior Application/Software Developer from March 2021 to March 2022.

Marcelo has a long tenure at Orga Systems, which was acquired by Redknee and rebranded as Optiva. Marcelo started there in February 2008 as a Senior Software Engineer and Solution Architect. In this role, they worked on the back-office systems, specializing in real-time/online rating, charging, billing, SMS, and USSD notification systems. Additionally, Marcelo acted as a Technical Team leader for the Prepaid System of TIM Brasil Telecom customer, managing an average of 70 million subscribers. Marcelo held this role until March 2021.

Before joining Orga Systems, Marcelo worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Redknee from February 2008 to December 2009. Marcelo served as a System Integration Engineer and Customer Support, where they supported customers, developed tools for task automation and report generation, improved environment management, and enhanced internal processes and system performance. Marcelo utilized programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl, Shell Scripting, and Java.

Prior to their tenure in the software industry, Marcelo held positions at Hospital Universitário Clementino Fraga Filho - UFRJ. From January 2003 to February 2008, they served as a Systems Administrator/System Manager, responsible for the maintenance of IT Network Servers. Marcelo worked with various systems and services such as firewalls, database servers, DNS, web proxy, DHCP, DMZ, mail server, and web server. Marcelo also performed development work on small applications during this time. Additionally, they had a brief role as a Systems Technical Support from August 2002 to January 2003 at the same organization.

Marcelo started their career as the owner of Caysan Informática LTDA from January 1999 to August 2002, where they managed the company's operations.

Marcelo also gained experience as an Inventory Administrator at Floriano Joias from June 1998 to July 1999.

Marcelo D.'s education history begins with their high school education at Antonio de Padua School from 1995 to 1997. There, they studied computer science for data processing. After completing high school, Marcelo enrolled at Universidade Gama Filho in 2005 and graduated in 2007. During their time at Gama Filho, they focused on computer networks, network protocols, GSM, and telecommunications. Marcelo later pursued postgraduate studies at Universidade Federal Fluminense from 2013 to 2014, specializing in mobile communications, focusing on antennas, radio frequencies, satellites, and mobile networks.
