Professor Mehmet Ozalp is a prominent academic and leader in Islamic Studies, currently serving as the Professor of Islamic Studies and Head of School at Charles Sturt University since July 2023. With over a decade of experience at the Islamic Sciences & Research Academy Australia as Executive Director, Professor Ozalp has significantly contributed to establishing and managing educational centers and courses in Islamic Studies across several universities, including Charles Sturt University, Macquarie University, and the University of Sydney, where Professor Mehmet also served as Muslim Chaplain advocating for Muslim students. Professor Ozalp's earlier roles included Directorships at both the Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation and the Affinity Intercultural Foundation, as well as extensive experience as a Senior Manager at Telstra Corporation. Holding a PhD in Islamic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Professor Ozalp combines scholarly expertise with practical leadership skills in intercultural relations.
