Gabriela Zapata Alvarez is a seasoned financial inclusion consultant with extensive experience in policy development and strategic advisory roles. Currently serving as a Financial Inclusion Consultant at CGAP and a Senior Policy Consultant for the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, Gabriela focuses on enhancing financial inclusion in Mexico. Previous roles include Senior Consulting Associate at Bankable Frontier Associates, where Gabriela contributed to financial health measurement projects, and a significant position at MetLife Foundation, providing strategic guidance on financial health initiatives across Latin America. Gabriela has also held leadership roles at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and SAGARPA, directing impactful projects that expanded access to financial services for marginalized populations. Gabriela holds a Master's degree in International Agriculture & Rural Development from Cornell University and a Bachelor's degree in Russian & Soviet Studies from American University.
