Mark Thomson is an accomplished physicist with a notable career in particle physics. As of January 2025, Mark serves as the Director General Elect at CERN, having rejoined the organization ahead of assuming the full directorship in 2026. Simultaneously, Mark maintains a position as Professor of Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Cambridge, a role held since October 2000, despite relocating to Switzerland.
