Cara Nelson-James has extensive work experience in the healthcare field. Cara began their career in 2006 at Central Florida Health Care, Inc., where they served as a Board Certified Family Physician. Cara later became the Chief Medical Officer in December 2019. In 2015, Cara joined Centra Care - Urgent Care as a Physician, a role they held until December 2019.

Cara Nelson-James obtained a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree in the field of Medicine from Nova Southeastern University from 1999 to 2003.
