William Rankin is a Trustee at Central College. William was previously employed at The Boeing Company from January 2002 to March 2014, where they held the title of Technical Fellow. In this role, they developed Maintenance and Ramp Human Factors products and processes that were useful to Boeing customer airlines. William also provided implementation support to the customer airlines regarding these products and processes. This included the Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA), Ramp Error Decision Aid (REDA), Safety Management System (SMS), Maintenance Human Factors Training, Maintenance Line Operations Safety Assessment (Maintenance LOSA), and Ramp Line Operations Safety Assessment (Ramp LOSA).
From March 2014 to March 2018, Rankin was the President of Wm. L. Rankin Consulting, Inc., where they consulted in the areas of individual and organizational performance. Prior to that, they held the title of Associate Technical Fellow at Boeing Commercial Airplanes from January 1998 to December 2002. Before that, they were a Human Factors Engineer at Boeing from January 1986 to December 1998.Rankin began their career as a Senior Scientist at Battelle Memorial Institute from January 1981 to December 1986. William then became a Research Scientist at Battelle Seattle Research Center from September 1976 to December 1981.
William Rankin received their Ph.D. in Psychology from Washington State University, their M.S. in Psychology from Washington State University, and their B.A. in Psychology and Mathematics from Central College.
