George Linares is the Chief Technology Officer at CMS. He serves as one of the Agency’s principal officials responsible for information technology (IT) at CMS in the areas of solutions architecture, enterprise interoperability, computer platforms and networks. George advocates the optimization of CMS’s IT investments and proposes enhancements to CMS IT and information management practices with an emphasis on continuously evolving and maturing CMS’s technical standards. He also fosters the introduction of innovative technologies focusing on opportunities to advance CMS’s program needs.
George joined CMS in 2003, and prior to his current role performed various functions, including Technical Advisor and Application Architect, where he managed and provided the overall guidance for the development of enterprise solutions that aligned with CMS and federal architectural standards and policies.
Prior to joining CMS, George worked as a software developer where he developed, implemented, and maintained large scale banking, manufacturing, and financial IT solutions.
George served in the U.S. Army and he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Towson University.
