Prior to Centerprise, Markus was CFO and member of the Executive Board of Zurich Insurance, a top ten global insurance institution. There, he led Zurich Group's acquisition strategy in the asset management area, with purchases of Scudder and BAT, as well as other entities, and initiated the development of a risk management function for the group.
From 1992 to 1996, Markus was CEO of UBS North America in New York and a member of the Executive Board of UBS Group. He led the build up of UBS' North America presence in investment banking and other areas, with oversight responsibilities for 2500 employees, and built the region into a leading presence among foreign investment banks operating in the U.S. During his fifteen-year tenure at UBS, Markus also held various other management capacities within the capital market and corporate finance divisions.
