Simon Ding has diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Simon started their career at the University of California - San Francisco as a Research Assistant in 2012. Simon then worked at Anatomage Inc. as an Application Specialist and later as an Application Manager from 2013 to 2014. In 2016, they worked as a Software Engineering intern at Driver, where they developed software for automating bioinformatic pipelines using Go and processed data from a Postgres database to Arvados. In 2017, they joined Celigo, Inc as a Software Engineer. Simon progressed within the company and held positions including Support Engineer, Senior Support Engineer, and currently serves as the Lead Support Engineer.

Simon Ding has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. In 2011 and 2012, they earned a Certificate in Biotechnology from the College of San Mateo. Simon also completed an Advanced Software Engineering Immersive Program at MakerSquare - School of Software Engineering from 2015 to 2016. Additionally, they completed a Python Computing and Algorithms Online Program at Rice University in 2013 and obtained a Teach English as a Foreign Language Certificate from the TEFL Institute in 2013. Simon has additional certifications in Algorithmic Thinking, An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python, and Principles of Computing from Coursera, but the dates of obtaining these certifications are unspecified.
