John Rae is an experienced business leader with a long-standing interest in the Manuka honey industry. John currently serves as an independent director for Cavalier Corporation.

Previously, Rae was the chairman for Oha Honey LP from April 2017 to November 2019. During their time as chairman, they oversaw the company during a difficult year for the industry. Unfortunately, the joint ownership model proved to be unsustainable and a change of ownership was required. Watson & Son is now 100% owned by Ngai Tahu.

Rae has also served as a director for Bremworth and as the Chairman Advisory Board for Trust Tairāwhiti. In their various roles, they have demonstrated their ability to lead and manage complex organizations through challenging times. John is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success.

John Rae has a degree in commerce and law from the University of Auckland. John also has a bursary from Kings College, Auckland. John has completed the Te Hono Stanford Bootcamp 2019 from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and the Strategic Leadership Programme from the Institute of Strategic Leadership.
