Lev Herrnson

Director, Bioethics Education at Catholic Health

Lev Herrnson has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Lev started as a Head of School at Lehrman Community Day School from 2002 to 2006 and later served as the Head of School at Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County and High School of Long Island from 2007 to 2011. In 2013, Lev founded the Torah Restoration Project and also worked as a Rabbi at RabbiLevH.com. Lev then joined Catholic Health Services of Long Island as a Chaplain Resident Intern from 2015 to 2016.

Lev's recent professional experiences include working as a Chaplain at Northwell Health from 2020 to 2022 and as a Chaplain and Director of Bioethics Education at Catholic Health since May 2022.

Lev Herrnson's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Binghamton University in 1986. In 1992-1993, Lev pursued a Master's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at Boston University. Lev Herrnson then attended Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion-New York, where they were ordained as a Rabbi in 2000 and obtained a Master of Hebrew Literature in 1999. In 2001-2005, Lev studied Day School Management at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS). Lev also attended The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1989-1990, focusing on Business Administration and Management. Continuing education includes a Certificate in Bioethics/Medical Ethics from Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University in 2017-2018. Lev Herrnson is currently pursuing a MA in Bioethics from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, expected to be completed in 2024. Additionally, Lev Herrnson holds a certification as a Board Certified Chaplain from Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains.
