E. James Byrd currently serves as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for Catawba County Schools since July 2017, following a tenure as Assistant Principal at Wilkes County Schools from November 2013 to August 2017. Key responsibilities have included evaluating teachers, conducting data team meetings, supervising transportation and custodial staff, managing student discipline, and facilitating training sessions. From September 2001 to November 2013, E. James Byrd worked as a Secondary English Teacher, teaching advanced placement and honors courses, advising students on post-secondary planning, and coaching athletics. E. James Byrd holds an add-on NC Administrator's License in Executive Leadership Studies from Gardner-Webb University, a Masterā€™s Degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelorā€™s Degree in German Language Teacher Education from Western Carolina University.
