Principal Innovation Engineer at Castor

Sebastiaan Knijnenburg is an experienced professional in innovation engineering and technology, currently serving as the Principal Innovation Engineer and Founder at Castor since August 2012, while also holding the position of Chief Technology Officer. Prior roles include co-ownership and programming at RightDesign from 2007 to December 2015, focusing on PHP development for WordPress plugins and Zend Framework applications, and serving as an ICT/Data Manager for SKION LATER at Academic Medical Center for a brief period in 2012. As a PhD Candidate at Emma's Children Hospital from 2007 to 2012, Sebastiaan conducted research on long-term survivorship after childhood cancer, investigating information needs and clinical epidemiology. Early career experience includes a position as a Research Assistant at Jan van Breemen Instituut from 2003 to 2006. Academic qualifications consist of a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Informatics (2013) and a Master of Science in Medical Informatics (2007) from the University of Amsterdam, alongside earlier studies in Medicine and a secondary education from Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum.
