Thomas Steinemann is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University and the MetroHealth Medical Center, where clinical practice encompasses the medical and surgical ophthalmic care of patients, particularly focusing on cornea and external eye disease, cataract surgery, eye trauma, and contact lens-related issues. Since July 1999, Thomas has also directed the Division of Ophthalmology and overseen significant growth in clinic census. Previous positions include Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic and University Ophthalmology Associates, Inc., and Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Thomas has contributed to the American Academy of Ophthalmology as Chair of the Research Regulatory and External Scientific Relations Committee. Educational qualifications include a medical degree from The University of Toledo, a residency in ophthalmology from the University of Kentucky, and a fellowship in cornea/external disease from Louisiana State University.
