Margaret Powell is an experienced professional in the field of decorative arts and design. Currently serving as the Curatorial Assistant of Decorative Arts and Design at the Carnegie Museum of Art since November 2016, Margaret has a diverse background that includes working as a Decorative Arts Historian and Consultant since May 2012. Previous roles include cataloguing costume collections at Winterthur Museum, serving as a Volunteer Information Specialist at the Smithsonian Institution, and completing a curatorial internship at Hillwood Estate. Margaret holds a Master’s degree in Smithsonian Associate History of Decorative Arts from the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at The George Washington University and a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
