James Vilares has extensive experience in research, innovation, and enterprise at Cardiff University since July 2007. Currently serving as the Lead for Future Research Service Transformation Programme, James focuses on systemic changes to enhance research and innovation support. As Business Manager for Research, Innovation and Enterprise, James oversees strategic funding allocations and contributes to policy development to ensure research excellence. James has also managed the Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission process and led a diverse team to deliver high-level submission services. With a background that includes roles such as Research Impact Manager and Community Engagement Officer, alongside a PGCE in English and Drama from Cardiff University, James combines practical education experience with a strong strategic focus in academic settings.
