Chris Turney

Scientific Advisor at CarbonScape

Chris Turney is a prominent academic and environmental advocate, currently serving as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Research at the University of Technology Sydney since January 2022. With extensive experience in leadership roles, Turney holds positions as a Non-Executive Director at the NSW Environment Protection Authority and Cicada Innovations, and is also a volunteer firefighter with the NSW Rural Fire Service. As a Scientific Advisor and Founding Director at CarbonScape, Turney contributes to renewable technology development. Previous roles include Director of the 14Chronos Carbon-Cycle Facility and the Earth and Sustainability Science Research Centre at UNSW, as well as leadership of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition. Turney's academic credentials include a PhD in Geology from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia.
