Amber Shukaliak

Amber Shukaliak has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Amber started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Alberta, where they synthesized and characterized inorganic nanocrystals. Amber then worked as a Technician at the National Research Council Canada, assisting in the preparation of materials for battery electrodes.

Amber continued their research work at the University of British Columbia, where they served as a Graduate Research Assistant, studying the self-assembly and photonic properties of cellulose nanocrystals within hydrogel networks. Amber also worked as a Teaching Assistant and General Chemistry Lab Training Facilitator at the University of British Columbia.

Amber gained teaching experience as a Sessional Chemistry Instructor at Columbia College, where they taught first-year university-level general chemistry. Amber also worked as a Laboratory Supervisor at Capilano University, where they instructed and evaluated chemistry labs.

Amber then transitioned into industry roles, starting as an Assistant Scientist at Charles River Laboratories, where they studied agro-chemical stabilities. Amber further advanced their career at Teva Pharmaceuticals, working as a Chemistry Analyst in the Quality Control Department.

Most recently, Amber worked at Flow Scientific Ltd. as a QMS Manager. In this role, they were responsible for quality-related tasks in a food-grade GMP certified facility, ensuring compliance with Health Canada Cannabis Regulations. Amber improved QC testing methods, wrote and improved policies and standard operating procedures, and continuously enhanced the Quality Management System.

Amber's current role is as a Laboratory Manager at CarboNet, where they oversee the laboratory operations.

Amber Shukaliak pursued their education in the field of Chemistry. Amber completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with a specialization in Chemistry at the University of Alberta from 2007 to 2011. Amber furthered their studies and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Materials Chemistry from The University of British Columbia between 2012 and 2014. Additionally, they acquired a certification in "Cannabis Science and Industries: Seeds to Needs" from DoaneX in January 2020.
