Michael Sather is a seasoned geotechnical engineer with extensive experience in the mining and construction sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Capstone Copper since October 2017, Michael has held various roles including Geotechnical Engineer, Drill and Blast Engineer, and Dispatch Engineer, focusing on the management of MineStar, Terrain, and related data systems while liaising on mine operation projects. Michael's prior experience includes fabricating at Creative Machines and working as a Boilermaker for both Zachry Group and Irwin Industries, where skills in welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication were utilized in building and repairing power plants across the United States. Michael holds a Master of Engineering in Geological/Geophysical Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Arizona, as well as an Associate of Science in Engineering from Pima Community College.
