Mr. Akin Aboaba began his career at Assurance Bank Nigeria Limited in 1986, where he worked in various capacities between 1986 and 2003. In 2003, he joined the Gateway Bank Plc as Deputy Manager (Pensions), from where he later joined Capital Express Assurance Limited.

He attended the University of Lagos where he bagged a degree in Actuarial Science in 1983 and also has a Masters's degree in Banking and Finance.
