Deborah D. Hoover

Trustee at Candid

Deborah has served since 2007 as president and CEO of Burton D. Morgan Foundation, a private foundation in Hudson, Ohio. It champions entrepreneurial spirit. She is a three-term Candid trustee, having joined with Foundation Center in 2014.

Deborah was instrumental in establishing Morgan Foundation鈥檚 Northeast Ohio Collegiate Entrepreneurship Program, a Kauffman Campuses鈩� Initiative, to spread entrepreneurship across liberal arts campuses; and in establishing NEOLaunchNET. She spearheaded the foundation's decision to establish the Entrepreneurship Education Experiment, a research institute that advances entrepreneurship education through leading-edge research and programs. Deborah received the Northeast Ohio EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014 in the Educational Services & Nonprofit category.

From 2013-2015, Deborah chaired the Fund for Our Economic Future, a philanthropic collaborative advancing Northeast Ohio鈥檚 economic competitiveness, and continues to represent the fund on the Team NEO Board of Directors. She chairs both the Advisory Council for Candid 鈥� Midwest and the Bounce Innovation Hub board in Akron. She serves on the Norman Rockwell Museum board.

Deborah earned her B. A. from Williams College, a master鈥檚 in art history from the University of Chicago, and a master鈥檚 in cultural history from Kent State University. She earned a J.D. degree at George Washington University and is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, and Ohio. She completed Harvard Business School鈥檚 "Governing for Non-Profit Excellence Executive Education Program" and 鈥淧erformance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations.鈥� She holds an honorary doctorate from Baldwin Wallace University.
