Marie Lavoie Dufort has a diverse background in various industries. Marie started their career in 2010 at HealthCare Benefit Trust as a Client Assistant in the Enrolment/Benefits Administration department. Marie then interned at Pacific Blue Cross as a Corporate Communications Intern before moving on to work as a Social Media Manager at Donnelly Group. In 2013, Marie held two positions as a Marketing and Communications Associate at IT/IQ Tech Recruiters and as a Communications Coordinator at St. John Ambulance BC/ Yukon. Marie then joined Teekay Corporation as a Communications Coordinator in 2015.
Marie began their journey in risk assurance at PwC in 2016, where they held various positions, including Experienced Associate, Senior Associate, and Experienced Senior Associate. In 2019, they transitioned to Canada Life, where they first became the Manager of Business Continuity Management and Governance before becoming the Manager of Global Supplier Resiliency. In 2022, they joined Butterfield Group as an Assistant Vice President of Operational Risk and Business Continuity. Currently, they are working as the Associate Director of Business Continuity at Canadian Blood Services.
Marie Lavoie Dufort holds a Certificate in Lean Six Sigma from the University of Toronto, which they obtained from 2019 to 2021. Marie also has a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University, earned from 2011 to 2013. In 2011, Marie briefly attended Capilano University, where they focused on Publishing. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate's Degree in Communications from Capilano University in 2011. Additionally, Marie has obtained several certifications including the Canadian Risk Management Certificate from Seneca College in 2022, ISO 22301:2019 Lead Auditor certification from ICOR-The International Consortium for Organizational Resilience in 2020, Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) certification from DRI International (Disaster Recovery Institute) in 2020, Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) certification from DRI International (Disaster Recovery Institute) in 2017, and PADI Scuba Diver certification from PADI in 2017.
