Suzanne Newport has extensive experience in operational risk management and risk assurance. Suzanne currently serves as Head of Operational Risk at Cambridge & Counties Bank since June 2022. Prior to this, they were the Head of Operational Risk Oversight at Phoenix Group from April 2021 to June 2022. Suzanne also held the position of Interim Head of Operational Risk at ReAssure from April 2020 to April 2021 and Senior Operational Risk Manager from October 2018 to April 2020. Before that, they worked as an Information Security Manager at Capita plc from October 2017 to October 2018. Suzanne has also gained experience as a Risk Manager at Link Asset Services from August 2015 to December 2017 and as an IT Risk Consultant at The Co-operative Bank plc from March 2014 to August 2015. Suzanne began their career at The Co-operative Banking Group in February 2005, where they held various roles including Customer Assurance & Risk Manager (Mortgage & Protection) and Monitoring & Quality Assurance Manager. Suzanne is skilled in stakeholder management, driving customer-focused frameworks, and conducting quality checks to ensure regulatory compliance.

Suzanne Newport completed their education in a chronological manner. Suzanne graduated from Westlands High School in Congleton, Cheshire in 1992, earning 9 GCSEs and 3 A levels in English, French, and German. Afterward, they attended the University of Central Lancashire, Preston from 1992 to 1995 and obtained a BA Hons degree in European Business Studies & Languages. In 2005 and 2006, Suzanne became CeMap qualified by completing level 1, 2, and 3 courses at the IFS. In 2012, they acquired a CPD qualification in risk in financial services from CISI. In 2013, Suzanne enrolled at IFS again, completing the IFS Diploma in Retail Banking & Conduct Risk.
