Yair Yablovitz, M.Sc

Lead GIS Developer at Caliper

Yair Yablovitz, M.Sc has a strong background in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and has accumulated significant work experience in the field. Yair is currently working as the Lead GIS Developer at Caliper Corporation since February 2020.

Prior to their current position, Yair was the Head of the GIS development team at the Israel Ministry of Interior from 2017 to 2019. In this role, they managed a team of GIS developers and led large-scale GIS projects, which resulted in annual savings of $300,000 for the ministry. During the 2018 Israel local elections, they played a key role in developing a mobile platform and web/mobile applications for field data collection and reporting of the election process.

Before joining the Ministry of Interior, Yair worked as a GIS Analyst at the Israel Police HQ, Planning & Organization Department from 2013 to 2017. Yair conducted various analysis projects aimed at improving effectiveness and efficiency among Israel Police stations and patrol vehicles. Yair collaborated with criminologists, BI analysts, and operations researchers, and presented recommendations based on their analysis. Yair's proficiency in ESRI products and other GIS tools helped optimize the number of vehicles, location of stations, and partition of patrol sectors, resulting in better and cost-effective policing.

Yair's GIS career began in 2011 when they worked as a GIS Specialist at DataMap G.I.S Group. Yair'sexpertise in Autodesk AutoCAD Map and ESRI ArcGIS allowed him to support non-professional users in their GIS work and develop training materials.

Prior to that, Yair was a GIS Research Analyst at the Volcani Center for Agricultural Research from 2008 to 2011. In this role, they conducted research using spatial statistics and created and maintained databases of on-site spatial measurements to reduce costs for farmers.

Overall, Yair Yablovitz has a diverse and extensive work experience in GIS, ranging from development and analysis to research and optimization. Yair'sskills and expertise have contributed to cost savings, improved efficiency, and effective decision-making in various organizations.

Yair Yablovitz obtained their Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Geography from Bar-Ilan University, graduating between 2006 and 2008. In addition, Yair has acquired several certifications including "Using Databases with Python" and "Using Python to Access Web Data" from the University of Michigan on Coursera in November 2017 and October 2017 respectively. Yair also obtained a certification in Excel VBA 2010 from Ness College in December 2014.
