Derek Stewart P.E. is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as Principal Engineer and Supervising Hydroelectric Power Utility Engineer at the California Department of Water Resources since August 2020. Prior to this role, Derek was self-employed for a brief period and worked as Principal Engineer at Ulteig. As President of Pacific Power Engineers, Inc. from 2014 to January 2020, Derek led significant projects, while earlier experience includes serving as Protection Engineer & Integration Engineer at Relay Application Innovation, Inc. and Senior Protection Engineer at the California Department of Water Resources from 2002 to 2010. Derek began their career as a Nuke operator in the US Navy from 1989 to 1995. Academically, Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Oregon State University and California State University-Sacramento.
