Barry Johnstone

Barry Johnstone has held various roles in the housing sector throughout their career. Barry began as a Graduate Trainee at East Ayrshire Council in 1997 and later worked as a Housing Officer at West Lothian Council. Johnstone then joined Argyll and Bute Council as an Area Housing Manager before moving to Glen Oaks Housing Association Limited as a Housing Manager. In 2008, they became the Depute Director at Easthall Park Housing Co-operative, where they oversaw leadership, governance, and community development. In 2014, Johnstone joined Caledonia Housing Association Limited as an Area Director, managing subsidiary housing associations and implementing change programs. Currently, they serve as the Director of People for the Caledonia Housing Association Group, providing strategic leadership and aligning people and culture development to business growth and improvement.

Barry Johnstone has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Politics and History from Glasgow Caledonian University. Barry also holds a Masters of Philosophy in Housing Studies from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Leadership and Business Management from the University of the West of Scotland. In addition to their academic qualifications, Barry has obtained a Chartered FCIPD certification from the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) and a Coaching and Mentoring certification from The Institute of Leadership.
