Richard "Dick" Gremillion, Sr has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Richard "Dick" began their career in 1978 as a Claims Adjuster at Shelter Insurance Companies. In 1981, they joined USF&G Insurance Company as a Claims Supervisor, overseeing the claims department for 12 years. In 1993, Gremillion transitioned to the public sector and joined the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury as the Director of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, a role which they continue to hold.

Richard "Dick" Gremillion, SR obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Northwestern State University. Richard "Dick" attended the university from 1973 to 1976.
