Patrick Burke is an advisor at Calamu Technologies and has over 10 years of experience working in the legal field with a focus on cybersecurity, data privacy, fintech, and blockchain. Patrick started their career as a counsel at Bennett & Samios LLP before moving to Seyfarth Shaw LLP where they worked as a senior counsel for two years. Patrick then spent two years and three months as a counsel at Reed Smith LLP before joining the New York State Department of Financial Services as the deputy superintendent of the Office of Financial Innovation and director of Financial Services Innovation. In this role, they oversaw policy and examinations of New York’s licensed and chartered financial institutions pursuant to the Department's cybersecurity and virtual currency regulations, including crypto-currency and Blockchain innovations. After 11 months in this role, they left to join Phillips Nizer LLP as a partner and chair of the Data Technology & Cybersecurity Practice Group. Patrick has been with Calamu Technologies for just over a year.
Patrick Burke has a law degree from New York University School of Law, a degree in history from Binghamton University, and a Danish politics & literature degree from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. Patrick also attended The Wheatley School, a public high school in East Williston, NY. Patrick is a certified member of CIPP/Europe, the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
