Kayla Winarsky McKenzie (Green) has a diverse work experience in the field of human rights. Kayla most recently worked at BSR as the Associate Director of Human Rights. Prior to that, they held the role of Manager of Human Rights at the same company. Kayla also worked as an Adviser of Human Rights and Business at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, and as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Amsterdam. Additionally, Kayla has experience as an Associate at King & Spalding, where they focused on government investigations and the Business & Human Rights Initiative. Kayla has also held positions at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, UN Watch, Queens District Attorney's Office, and Moment Magazine.
Kayla Winarsky McKenzie (Green) has a diverse education history. Kayla started their educational journey at Joffrey Ballet School-American Ballet Center from 1994 to 2008. Kayla then attended Tulane University from 2008 to 2012, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors and Summa Cum Laude distinction.
In 2011, Kayla studied abroad at Charles University for a short period. Kayla then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where they studied from 2012 to 2015. At the University of Pennsylvania, they pursued their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at the Carey Law School and obtained a Global Human Rights Certificate with a focus on International Human Rights.
During their time at the University of Pennsylvania, Kayla also participated in an LLM Exchange Program at Geneva Graduate Institute in 2014. This program allowed their to specialize in Private International Law and Public International Law.
In terms of certifications, Kayla became a licensed attorney through the New York State Bar Association in 2016. Kayla also obtained a Certificate in Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation from the United Nations in November 2014.
