Derek Stein is the Founder and CEO of Adept Materials, bringing extensive academic and industry experience to the role. Prior to this position, Derek served as a Professor and later as Professor Emeritus at Brown University, where foundational work in applied physics was conducted. Earlier in the career, Derek held the position of Associate Professor at the same institution and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Technische Universiteit Delft. Derek also gained industry experience as a Technical Intern at Agilent Technologies. Educated at Harvard University, Derek earned a Ph.D. in Applied Physics, following a B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics from McGill University.
