Mercedes McCarthy is a NASA Flight Controller Trainee specializing as a Propulsion Officer for the Artemis program at Johnson Space Center since January 2022. McCarthy is also training as an Attitude Determination and Control Officer for the International Space Station. Previously, McCarthy was a Brooke Owens Fellow and served as an engineering ambassador at North Carolina State University, where responsibilities included mentoring students and coordinating STEM events. McCarthy's internship experience includes roles focused on crew survival systems, in-situ resource utilization technology, and propulsion systems. McCarthy earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2021.
