Arshad Mahmood is an experienced professional with a strong background in child protection and governance. Currently serving as Deputy Team Lead for the Aawaz II Programme at the British Council since May 2019, Arshad manages a UK Pounds 19.9 million initiative focused on inclusion and reducing modern slavery. Previous roles include Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governance Project with Development Alternatives Inc., and Child Protection Consultant for UNICEF in Jordan, where responsibilities included engaging various ministries on child welfare strategies. With a history of leadership positions at organizations such as Save the Children International and the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, Arshad has been pivotal in advocating for child rights in Pakistan and strengthening civil society networks. Arshad holds a Master’s Degree in Human Rights from The London School of Economics and Political Science and multiple degrees in law and social anthropology.
