Jay Fernando has over 25 years of work experience. Jay began their career in 1994 as an Engineer at Jaswal Neco Industries Ltd. Jay then worked as a Software Engineer at Saud Bahwan Group LLC from 1998 to 1999. From 1999 to 2001, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. Following this, they were a Senior Software Engineer at New Creative Enterprises from 2001 to 2002. Jay then moved on to be a Principal Consultant at NTT DATA from 2002 to 2007. Most recently, they have been a Board of Directors at Indiana Chamber of Commerce since 2020.

Jay Fernando has a varied educational background. Jay holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Indianapolis, an Entrepreneurship Development Program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an Advanced Management Program from the Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the University of Madras, and an Advanced Management certification from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
