Heather Taylor-Miesle is the current director at BRITE Energy Innovators. Heather has also served as the executive director of the Ohio Environmental Council from September 2015 to March 2022. In this role, they managed facilities and staff of 25-30 lawyers, experts, communicators and organizers, and two boards (9-20+). Heather also grew organizational support, fundraised for, and managed several multi-million annual budgets. Additionally, they supported efforts to become a more justice, diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization internally and externally through listening, trainings, policy change, and partnership. Heather is a regular speaker at conferences, educational venues, and to media. Heather has also negotiated federal and state legislation and managed advocacy and electoral campaigns, including serving as a primary negotiator for a Constitutional amendment to end gerrymandering in Ohio. Lastly, they managed planning, launch, and maintenance of a five-year strategic plan and successfully managed the first collective bargaining agreement for the organization.
Prior to their role at the Ohio Environmental Council, Heather served as deputy legislative director at the Natural Resources Defense Council from March 2004 to July 2008. Heather also served as president of the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund from March 2016 to March 2022.
Heather Taylor-Miesle has a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the University of Southern California in Public Management. Heather also has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Marietta College in Political Science and Government. Heather has attended the Consensus Building Institute at Harvard University, the University of Akron School of Law, and the Rockwood Leadership Institute.
