Emily Merrell is an accomplished music educator and performer with extensive experience in vocal jazz and choral conducting. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Brigham Young University since August 2015, Emily programs and directs BYU Jazz Voices, showcasing a diverse repertoire of high-quality jazz arrangements. As Conference Manager for the American Choral Directors Association - Utah Chapter since March 2015, Emily oversees the planning of statewide conferences. In addition, Emily holds the position of Regional Consultant and Booking Agent for the International Musicians League, managing the Diamond Empire Band across multiple states. Emily also owns and operates the Emily Merrell Vocal Studio, providing vocal instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. Prior teaching experience includes serving as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas Division of Jazz Studies, where Emily directed vocal jazz ensembles and taught various courses. Emily holds multiple degrees from the University of North Texas, including a Master of Music in Jazz Performance with Summa Cum Laude honors.
