People Director at Brain in Hand

Lucy C. has a diverse and extensive work experience in various HR and teaching roles.

Lucy started their career in 2003 with Dorset County Council, where they held several HR positions, including Senior HR Advisor. During their time there, they gained experience in employee relations, policy development, and advising schools on various HR matters.

In 2008, Lucy transitioned into a private HR consultancy role as a Human Resources Consultant at Turner HR Ltd, which was later acquired by Clarke Willmott LLP. In this role, they developed a successful consultancy practice, providing HR support to clients and managing a team of consultants.

Lucy then moved on to work as the Head of Human Resources (Retail & Wholesale) at Liberty., where they led the development and implementation of the company's people strategy and HR vision. Lucy also served as a member of the Wholesale Board, advising on global HR strategy.

In 2011, Lucy took on the role of Interim Human Resources Director at Riverford Organic Farmers, providing maternity cover and later continuing on a freelance basis for an additional year.

Lucy then worked as an Interim Human Resources Director at Mamas & Papas, where they supported the operational restructure of the business and implemented a successful organizational restructure and redundancy program.

From 2015 to 2019, Lucy worked as an Interim HR Director, providing strategic and operational HR consultancy services to various clients, including The Private Clinic of Harley Street, Bath Rugby, and Lloyd & Whyte Insurance, among others. Lucy also took on two communications roles during this time.

Most recently, Lucy joined Brain in Hand in 2022, initially as the Head of People and later becoming the People Director. In this role, they are responsible for driving the organization's people strategy and culture change.

Lucy has also pursued a teaching career, retraining as a secondary science teacher in 2019. Lucy worked at Westfield Academy, where they also took on the additional responsibility of Academic Head of Year 8.

Overall, Lucy C. has a strong background in HR, teaching, and consultancy, with experience in leading organizational change, developing people strategies, and providing HR support to a wide range of clients.

Lucy C. holds a Postgraduate Degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Exeter, which they obtained from 2019 to 2020. Prior to that, they completed their MA in Human Resource Management with a focus on Strategic Human Resources and Leadership at Bournemouth University from 2004 to 2006. Additionally, Lucy obtained a Level 7 certification from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in June 2006.
