Paul Mischel, M.D., is a physician scientist with expertise in molecular pathology, signal transduction, and cancer biology. Paul is currently a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, San Diego and a member of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research since 2012. Paul’s research focuses on the bridge between cancer genetics, signal transduction, and cellular metabolism in the pathogenesis of human cancer, with the goal of developing more effective, less toxic therapies.
Paul received his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College and a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania. Paul completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Afterwards, he trained in molecular and cellular developmental neurobiology in Lou Reichardt’s lab at the University of California, San Francisco and joined the faculty of UCLA in 1998.
